Northern Powergrid, the company that powers everyday life for 8 million people across the North East, Yorkshire and northern Lincolnshire, is powering careers with its highly competitive Power Network Craft Apprenticeships.

The company delivers electricity to 3.9 million homes and businesses through its network of more than 63,000 substations and some 60,000 miles of overhead power lines and underground cables spanning 9,650 square miles.

To keep that power flowing Northern Powergrid is looking for aspiring, ambitious, hands-on individuals who want to learn a trade for life and be part of an energy industry which is looking to the future with investment in smart technology innovation.

The apprenticeship programme enables successful candidates to start a new journey earning while they learn in one of three endorsed energy and utilities skill crafts;

  • Overhead Linesman – construct and maintain overhead electricity lines
  • Underground Cable Jointer – repair, install and connect underground electricity cables
  • Rapid Response – first responder for fault identification, fault management and restoration.
